Steel

The history of steel art can be traced back to the Industrial Revolution. With the advancement of steel production technology, steel is no longer just a raw material for construction and industry, but has entered the field of art. Artists have discovered that the strong plasticity and good corrosion resistance of steel make it an ideal material for making large outdoor sculptures and complex structures. Steel sculptures range from daily utensils to street scenes, all of which show the unique charm of steel art.

How the Steel Was Tempered

We offer the best forging

  • Ironmaking

Iron ore (mainly magnetite, hematite, etc.) is put into the blast furnace together with coke, limestone and other raw materials. The combustion of coke produces heat and reducing agent carbon monoxide, and the iron ore is reduced to liquid iron at high temperature. The molten iron flows out from the bottom of the blast furnace and enters the ladle, ready to be sent to the steel plant.

  • Steelmaking

The molten iron is fed into a converter or electric furnace. In the converter, carbon and other impurities are removed from the molten iron by blowing in oxygen, and alloying elements are added to adjust the composition of the steel. Electric furnace steelmaking mainly uses scrap steel as raw material, which is melted and refined by electric arc heating.

  • Cast steel

The refined molten steel is fed into the continuous casting machine. In the continuous casting machine, the molten steel is continuously cast into billets, the most common of which are slabs and billets.

  • Steel rolling

The steel billet is heated to a high temperature and then rolled through a rolling mill. According to the needs, the steel billet can be rolled into various shapes of steel, such as plates, profiles, wires, etc.
